U15s runners up at a national competition!

Club entered the SistersnSport National Cup for the first time, with both U13 and U15 teams competing

U15s – 2nd place in the Plate

The U15s had a tough opening away round against a very accomplished Eagles side who had played together for a long time. With new players to the club and combinations who don’t usually play together, it was a tough ask and they lost 62-25, although were much improved in the second half.

The silver lining to a loss in the first round was that they now entered the plate competition, and the next round where they took an excellent 41-36 win over Aces in a very close and highly contested match. This saw them face NRG away, where they made really hard work of the first three quarters but turned on the jets in the last to win the quarter by 7, and the match 32-23.

Up next was the quarter final, and this was a home match against Dart who travelled all the way from Devon. Our girls were simply too good, as they played fantastic netball to win 67-12, with plenty of rotations and everyone performing brilliantly.

The semi-finals and final were played on the same day in Leicester, where the southern teams met the northern teams for the first time. In the semi-final we faced Bramhall, and it was a bit of a scrappy game, with both teams putting a lot of defensive pressure on. However, we managed to find out flow on a couple of occasions which gave us the lead and ultimately the win 19-16.

The team was thrilled to make the final against a tough Oaksway team. Although we had much better patience and connections in attack, we had a slow start on defence which let them get comfortable. Down at half time, the team fought back with all their determination, to even the score on several occasions, but time just rain out and we missed the win by just one goal 27-28 in a high scoring match.

Very proud of the squad, a second place finish is amazing, and they all put great stuff out on court.

Squad: Tallulah, Erin D, Nancy, Sophie, Sienna, Bailey, Grace, Kristole, Roxie, Lauren, Isla, Alice

U13s – quarter finals of the Cup

The U13s had a super first match, shaking off their nerves to beat Aces 33-21 with the whole squad taking to the court. I the next round they had an away trip to Team Beds, and finding themselves down by one at half time, they had a determined second half to smash out a 28-19 win.

This put them into the quarter finals where they were well beaten by a terrific 5 Ways team 22-44, although had an improved second half performance. It was a terrific experience for all the girls to play against some different teams and to learn what it is like to travel for matches.

Squad: Nancy, Erin H, Frankie, Dolly, Amelia, Maria, Macie, Tilly, Darcie, Gabriella, Niamh, Desiree, Christine, Sophie
