The junior 2nd team have had a great year, with everyone showing real improvement in their game play.

The season was always going to be tough, as the team was playing in an U14 division, with many of the players still U13 and U12. Although the team only beat Hornets Purple during the course of the season, it was great to see the progression that was made throughout the squad and how many of the players really took this as an opportunity to step up their game.

Aneira moved into the centre position with relative ease, and even took on the challenge of the shooting circle for one match. Karis' enthusiasm was always undiminished and she kept her head under pressure and when we were losing, providing great support to whomever was playing in the shooting circle with her.

Shannon (centre court) and Paige (shooter) were two of the squads strongest players, and both moved up into the first team during the course of the season. Their strong skills and netball brains were missed when they were promoted. However, Holly joined the squad half way through the season, and she was a great asset to the team with her confident moves and accurate shooting.

Chloe N, although a little hesitant in the shooting circle at first, was soon making more decisive drives, and moving much better. Jess, one of the youngest in the squad, had a disappointing start to the season as she recovered from an operation, however it was clear she had been watching closely from the bench and learning a lot and she slotted in well on her return, and was great at offering a forward drive rather than asking for the ball over her (inevitably taller) opponent.

The defence worked tirelessly throughout every match. Tilly has always been a hard worker, reading the game well and going for every ball, but has shown great improvement this year with tips becoming two handed interceptions. Alanah is also a good reader of the game, and is willing to try out new things. This season after seeing the seniors restrict space to keep the player away from the circle, she decided to try and put it into her own game. Chloe S, although she trialled as a centre court player, was soon utilising her height in defence, rising to the challenge and putting a lot of effort into learning the art of her new position.

Lola, although one of the youngest and least experienced in the squad had a fantastic season. She is a great defender and goes for everything from the start to the finish of the game, and with her quick footwork she always came up with loads of interceptions.

The junior 2nd team player of the year was Bethany-Mai. She put in 100% effort in both training and matches, and has ended up playing almost every position on the court. She makes terrific interceptions in defence, her movement and feeding in attack are excellent and she has even made an appearance in the shooting circle. Her attitude on and off the court is exemplary, she trains well and takes coaching points on board and puts them into practice.

Well done to all of the young players in this team - we look forward to seeing their progression next year.
