The 2nd team had an inconsistent match against top of the table XS at the NWK League.

The first quarter showed lovely play from the front court and great passes straight into the shooters for club to gain valuable goals. Elize Ansell at GS and Kirsty Hall at GA showed great movement around the circle to get away from the tall defence. The club defence were working extremely hard to get the rebounds from the XS shooters but unfortunately they weren’t missing. With Club missing a couple of goals meaning the tall XS defence were able to pick up the rebounds at our end, the score at the end of the first quarter was 7-10 to XS.

The second quarter started and Club were determined to get more goals, Rebecca O'Dwyer moved out to GD and Sadie Burch went to GK. During this quarter it seemed club had lost their focus as the ball could not get out of defence meaning XS shooters could intercept the ball and gain advantage with more goals. However Sadie and Bex worked very well together to minimise the GA from getting near the post even if it didn’t work some of the time. Shannon Murray, Jemma Fruin and Grace Thomas started working well together meaning they were bringing the ball up to the shooters nicely with good passes and helping around the circle for when the shooters were needing help to get their shooting position. At one point during this quarter Club brought the score difference to 3 but unfortunately could not hold onto the momentum and by the end of the quarter the score was 14-22 against Club.

The third quarter saw a lot of changes to the positions on court. Megan Hayward took to the court as C which immediately increased the speed of the game getting the ball flowing down to the front court. Jemma went in as GS, Elize going to WD and Shannon going to WA. The attack worked a lot harder in this quarter despite the tall XS players sometimes getting their hands over the ball to gain interceptions. Jemma and Kirsty showed off their dynamic work in the circle meaning they went for the rebounds and were nearly always successful in their shots. The defence could not get the rebounds from the XS shots at the other end, as their GA was extremely tall and jumped very high but Sadie and Bex together were determined and managed to get some great interceptions. The Club attack needed to improve on their passing into the circle in this quarter as it was not going in at the correct angle which made it easy for the XS defence to intercept it. The score difference had grown and the quarter ended at 22-33.

No changes were made in the last quarter but Club were not giving up in trying to reduce the gap and still get the win. This quarter proved to be the best shooting quarter for Club, and all Club players getting great tips on the balls and sometimes interceptions. However, XS were not giving up either and carried on playing at their best. The final score at the end was 30-43 to XS.
