Strong performance from the 2nd team

After two losses and one win, Club needed to build on the last game. With a full squad of players available, the starting line-up was GS Jayne Goldsbrough, GA Nichola Morrison, WA Kirsty Hall, C Debbie Greeenslade, WD Jessica Saville, GD Elize Ansell, GK Paige Money.

Club had a fantastic start to the first quarter with the front court working the ball up to the circle creating some great feeds into Jayne. With some tight defensive pressure and rebounding from Paige and Elize, New Edition were struggling to score. At the end of the quarter the score was 12-3.

No changes were made in the second quarter. However, New Edition had now warmed up and came out fighting which made it more difficult to feed Jayne in the circle as she was being tightly marked by the GD & GK. Nichola, Kirsty and Debbie had to work hard to pass the ball around the attacking circle, with some strong drives into the circle from Nichola. Jess also made some great interceptions and turnovers. However, with Club making some basic errors, i.e. footwork, going offside, not driving on the ball, we only won this quarter by 1 goal (23-13).

The third quarter saw changes with Lily Whitehead on at C, Shannon Murray to WD, Sadie Burch to GK with Paige moving to GD and Debbie moving to WA. With some fresh legs on court Club stepped up the pace, which saw some lovely passing down the court from Lily, Paige and Shannon, and extended the lead to 32-21.

Club had a strong last quarter with some huge interceptions and turnovers from Lily. Sadie and Paige were keeping up the defensive pressure which caused New Edition's attack to throw the ball off the back line. With some strong shooting from Jayne and Nicola, together with consistent defensive play from the whole of the team, Club finally won the game 44-27.
