Match report by Lily Whitehead

This was a fantastic win for the third team against Chislehurst 2. The team played well together throughout the whole game. Especially playing a team above us in the table. This win has boosted our confidence going on to our next game.

During the first quarter, the team showed great strength with Denise Grant at GK and Temi Adewumi at GD. The defensive pair showed great strength in the circle and got lots of rebounds. With Rebecca Clayton at WD, she showed great ability when defending and was helping move the ball smoothly up the court. Lola Wheeler at C played a brilliant game defending tightly and stopping the opposing C receiving the ball. Lola brought the ball up the court well with the help of Temi and Rebecca. Lily Whitehead at WA drove well out on the centre pass always giving Lola options. Lily and Lola worked well together. The centre court got plenty of interceptions giving Alice Bartholomew GA and Emily Perryman GA more chances to shoot.

At half time we saw Hannah Bartholomew come on at GD. Hannah played an outstanding game and got many rebounds and interceptions. Denise quickly adapted to the changes and they both worked very well together, stopping the ball from getting to the shooters as easily. Rebecca and Hannah provided backup for Lola and Lily. Both Lola and Lily did some brilliant feeds in increasing our chances. Great shooting from Alice and Emily, they both worked well together. It was a tight quarter, virtually neck and neck.

During the third quarter, the thirds lost a bit of concentration and it was a fight for the last quarter. Even though we lost concentration we still held it together leading on to the last quarter.
Temi came back on as WD in the final quarter. With tight man to man marking from Denise and Hannah, continuously stopping the flow of the play for the opposing side. With Lola, Temi and Hannah bringing the ball down the court and Lily and Lola driving into the space easily. Alice played a brilliant game, shooting accurately. Emily also played an outstanding game as it was her first time playing with the Third Team. She fitted in well to the team and both shooters worked well together, moving for each other and making it easier for Lola and Lily helping around the circle.

Overall everyone played an excellent game and it was an outstanding win for the Third Team. The final score was 36-30 to us.
