Narrow loss for the third team

All the team were at the match ready to play, after the warm up and some drills. ISwanley 2 are the top of league so Club knew they had to play with 100% commitment. The 1st quarter was good with Jess and Alice in the shooting circle getting into good positions and, despite the strong defence from Swanley, they managed to receive passes from Brooke and Lois who were positioned well around the circle. At the end of this quarter Club were leading 9-6.

With positive minds from the first quarter, Club came on strong in the second quarter. After some feedback from the coaches, the defence were even stronger, with Rebecca making some good interceptions and Temi and Eve making it hard for the ball to get into the circle. This allowed the centre court of Brooke, Lois and Rebecca to bring the ball up court and into the shooting circle meaning Alice and Jess could continue with their shooting, keeping Club in the lead.

In the 3rd quarter changes were made - Brooke and Lois came off, meaning Temi moved to C, Alice to WA, Emily to GA and Devon on as WD. Club had to adapt to the changes so some balls were lost but the defence were managing to intercept some of the passes into the circle. Jess made good drives out of the circle to then pass the ball to Emily by the post. However a lack of energy to jump for the rebounds enabled Swanley to catch up in goals.

In the last quarter Club kept fighting but Swanley were coming on stronger and the passes needed to be more definite so that it was harder for Swanley to intercept. Club also needed to be more alert and turnover the ball whenever there was the chance.

At the end of the match it was 38-34, which was a frustrating loss for Club but means we will train hard for the next time.
