Match report by Jess Clark

With Club knowing Wealden would be one of the toughest teams so far, we all went onto court raring to go! The first quarter took a us a bit of time to settle and compose ourselves for the game ahead. The Wealden defence were extremely strong meaning Jess and Emily need to use their dynamic footwork and forward moves in order to have shooting opportunities. Despite the ball sometimes making it into the circle, the ball did not seem to be going through the net but the girls powered on. The defensive aspect to first quarter was fairly lazy and the man to man marking technique seemed to fade into a loose 'marking the space' lessening our chances of many interceptions or tips. By the end of the first quarter we were down 17-3.

In the second and the third quarter everyone seemed to have woken up a bit and were more focused and alert; picking up loose balls and going for interceptions with two hands, everyone getting their three feet (although some were made to make it about 4 feet) we settled nicely and our play begin to flow much more efficiently. The circle defenders, Skylar and Eve, made numerous interceptions and tips and the feeds into the circle had been immensely pressured all throughout the court. Although losing 37-11 and only scoring 8 goals from the first quarter, Club did not let their heads drop, we kept fighting, going for every ball and defending our socks off. However after the first five minutes of this in the third quarter, we all began to slack again and Temi's centre passes were not being delivered and were often intercepted. However as the quarter progressed, if Alice or Jess could not seem to get free, Devon came down from behind to lend a hand which worked a lot better for club.

Going into the final quarter Club were down by quite a way with Wealden leading 52-16. The final quarter was our best quarter yet only losing 11-10. The game flowed and the shots were going in. The whole team defence started to work and affect Wealdens play and ball placement, giving our defenders numerous interceptions and advantages.

Overall, Club played a nice game of netball with some bad and some good parts to it. The final score was Club 25 - 62 Wealden
