The young, and relatively inexperienced 3rd team made a bright start in Division 5.

In the first quarter, the whole team started with intensity and took an early lead. The shooting combination of Meg (GS) and Myfi (GA) started well together in the circle, with strong definite movement but were not reaping the rewards, as the goals were refusing to drop. The centre court of Alex (WA), Dru (C) and Brooke (WD) started with good intensity and pace, which the opposition struggled to deal with and the score stayed very close up until half time.

At half time, Lottie came on to C and Charlotte to GA with Myfi moving to WA. Lottie & Myfi delivered strong passes and feeds, which kept the pace in the front court at a high tempo. Charlotte combined well with Meg in the circle, but both shooters were under immense pressure from the defence, who had a tendency to have their hands over the face rather than the ball.

The defensive combination of Temi & Emily were doing a tremendous job, with Temi forcing balls off the back line and taking rebounds with aplomb. Emily worked hard to keep the GA from getting behind her, and was supported well by Brooke in bringing the ball up. However, in the third quarter, some errors out on the centre court and going in to attack meant that Denes pulled out to a 6 goal lead.

In the last quarter, Eleanor came on at WA, with Myfi returning to the shooting circle, and Dru back on at C. The attack were always on the look out for a quick pass, and Meg & Myfi sank some lovely long shots. Down in defence, Lucy had come on at WD, and Alex into a slightly unfamiliar GD role. With Temi continuing to make interceptions (including coming out of the circle to snatch a pass intended for the WA), and Alex and Lucy being alert to every opportunity, Club managed to pull back a couple of goals to reduce the deficit to just 4 goals.

A great start for a combination not yet used to working together, with the whole squad taking to the court. Well done to Myfi, Alex, Lottie, Charlotte, Eleanor & Lucy for their first NWK League matches for the Club.
