It’s the start of a new season for club, new division and a new team so the first game was always going to be a tough one.

In the first quarter club got off to a slow start whilst we all adjusted to our new team. Swanley went all out and although club tried hard to stick with it and get the score up Swanley managed to take the lead of 5-14. Club now had some catching up to do.

In the second quarter, Club knew they had to pick up the pace and close down on the lead that Swanley held. There was now a new shooting arrangement with Alannah Martin at GS and Jade Hierons at GA. They did a brilliant job of moving round the circle and worked really well together. This combined with a lot of accurate shooting and good work by the centre court bringing the ball down meant that Club were getting more goals. Unfortunately for Club Swanley continued to play well and kept scoring. The score at the end of the second quarter was 19-28 still leaving club with a lot of work to do.

Club were now settled into the game but still needed to step it up. During the third quarter the team as a whole improved, the shooters were still working well and some great interceptions were made by Charlie Penny at WD. Unfortunately Ruth Dempsey at GD got injured and was replaced by Katie Hunt. The change was quickly adapted to and Club finished the quarter playing well. However, this still wasn’t enough as Swanley still had a lead. The score at the end of the 3rd quarter was 31-43.

Going into the final quarter the team knew it was their last chance to bring it back. Dorothy Bryan came on as GS and her shooting was very accurate. Some good interceptions were made by the defense and centre court allowing Club to bring back some goals. However Swanley were never far behind and by the end of the match they kept their lead of ten leaving the final score of 42-52
