After gaining a win in the previous match Club knew they had to put in more hard work if they were to achieve another. Club’s opponents were Sabina and they knew that right from the start it was going to be a tough match.

Club had first centre and so were able to score the first goal, Sabina then followed this by getting a goal off their centre. The same pattern occurred throughout the first quarter ending it level at 13-13. Club learnt from this that it was going to be a close match and so they needed to fight all the way.

The same starting seven continued through to the second quarter and continued to work well together. The attack of Dorothy Bryan at GS and Jade Hierons at GA worked solidly as a unit and with accurate feeds into the circle by the centre court players Club continued to score. However despite Club’s defence putting pressure on the Sabina shooters they kept scoring and held the lead at the end of the quarter. The score being 23-37

After a talk at half time Club came on ready to close down on the lead that Sabina had. A few changes had been made which saw Alannah Martin come on at GS and Holly McDonald (home from Uni) come on at C. The changes were quickly adapted to by the whole team and they went on to make many interceptions. The shooters continued to be very accurate, the centre court brought the ball down court well and the defence kept the pressure on the opposing attack. Although Club were still trailing by 1 they were still prepared to fight till the end. The score going into the final quarter was 35-36.

After keeping their efforts up throughout the whole match club knew they had to go all out for the final 15 minutes if they were to come away with the win. The attack continued to shoot incredibly well and also were making very good decisions which worked in Club’s favour. As well as this the whole team worked well when it came to the defending which led to many interceptions. This combined with the full determination of the team meant that Club took the win with only one goal in it. The final score being 48-47. Club put up a fight from the opening whistle to the closing whistle which paid off for them.
