After beating Daggers in their last game Club were hoping to repeat this in their upcoming match against them. They knew it was going to be tough as Daggers are top of the table and will come out fighting.

In the first quarter Club were confident and were determined to win, Daggers had first centre and so an early interception needed to be made. However it took Club a little while to warm up in the first quarter and Daggers took advantage to claim an early lead of 10-15.

Club had some catching up to do but kept their heads up and went into the second quarter positive. Daggers continued to play well and confidently knowing they had the lead however Club also were now playing well with good shooting and solid work from the centre court. This kept clubs score increasing but unfortunately Daggers work was still strong they had made the gap in the score even bigger with it now being 18-26.

Club were now trailing by 8 goals and they knew that this was the quarter they needed to really pull something out in to give them a chance of winning the game. They went back on court with confidence and determination which paid off in their play. Some well needed interceptions were made by the defence which lead to turn over goals, giving Club the advantage to close down the score line. The defence kept Daggers’ score down to 33 and play from the centre court and attack increased Clubs score to 29, closing the gap by a significant amount.

Club were now only down by 4 and after fighting through their game with great effort and determination they were prepared to carry it on right to the end to try and win. The pressure was now mounting up as the score was so close, Daggers were desperate to keep their lead and Club were desperate to close down their lead to win. Under the great pressure Clubs’ shooters continued to shoot accurately and important interceptions were still being made by the defence. Club were just seconds away from gaining the win or draw but unfortunately the dreaded closing whistle sounded leaving them only one goal behind. The final score was 38-39.
